Creative Laxative: Tania Jazz Mont

Creative Laxative is a mixture of the bold, colorful, gritty, figurative genre portraits of Mont's new work at Asher Grey this month. Mont allows the paint to be true to its physical properties. She is aggressive and free in her painting and mark-making approach. The artist states that "If my paintings begin to appear “sophisticated,” I find ways to manipulate them. Tania Jazz Mont received her BFA from Cal State Fullerton in 2009. In 2011 she completed her MFA thesis at Claremont Graduate University. She has exhibited work in & around Los Angeles, including a recent solo at Mt. San. Jacinto Gallery. Mont is also an art professor, and currently teaches studio art & art appreciation at Moreno Valley College & Mt. San Jacinto College.
